Preferred Pest Control's Coronavirus Action Plan
September 22, 2020
As a local business within the Des Moines community, we are staying up-to-date with all the latest information and news related to the coronavirus outbreak. We care about the health and well-being of our employees, our loyal customers and the entire metro.
As this situation continues, Preferred Pest Control will remain open so that we can continue to serve our local community with any pest control needs. The Fall is typically when we start to notice new insects and mice entering homes and businesses as the weather gets colder, and our team wants to be there to help customers fend off pests. We will perform many of our regular routines, but have also put additional safety precautions and sanitation best practices in place for our managers, technicians and sales teams.
Preventing The Spread of COVID-19 While Preventing Pests
Preferred Pest Control adheres to the recommendations of the CDC for businesses including:
- Conducting daily health checks.
- Requiring employees to wear face coverings when inside of our customer’s homes and businesses.
- Implementing a practice of social distancing.
- Washing hands as frequently as possible with soap and water for 20 seconds and using hand sanitizer.
- Routine cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces such as phones, vehicle interior, etc.
Preferred Pest Control employees are also asked not to show up to work if they feel any flu-like symptoms (especially if they have an elevated temperature), and will be dismissed if they start to develop any symptoms throughout the work day. Our office staff asks homeowners who are making an appointment if there have been any symptoms within the home, and our technicians are prohibited from entering areas with a known flu or coronavirus case.
What to Expect The Day of Your Pest Control Appointment
When our technicians arrive for your scheduled appointment, our employees will not be shaking hands and will provide ample distance to ensure the safety of persons involved. Customers can communicate with our technicians via phone instead of face-to-face during a visit if you prefer. Just let our office staff know that you would like the technician to call you upon arrival to notify them of the location of the nest or pest problem, and of any additional details they should know. If you do choose to communicate face-to-face, we kindly ask that you maintain 6 feet of distance between you and our technicians.
For interior treatments, Preferred Pest Control staff are expected to wear disposable face masks while performing any pest services indoors. When in homes, we ask that our customers stay out of the room our technicians are working in, or at a minimum of 6 feet away. Our employees have masks, gloves, antibacterial wipes and hand sanitizer available and are encouraged to use them.
We encourage existing customers to make their payments online, and new customers to prepay over the phone. This is to avoid the handling of cards and checks. Our employees use iPhones to log the job and payment needs, and will be sanitizing their iPhones and hands between each visit. Our service vehicles will also be cleaned and sanitized on a daily basis.
For apartment buildings and other commercial pest control clients, our team members will follow similar guidelines.
